Resources for Professional Development
At the NIH
The NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE) enhances the experience of NIH trainees, including postbacs, graduate students, and postdocs. It coordinates most aspects of graduate life outside the lab, offering career development programs tailored to biomedical research. OITE hosts writing and mentoring workshops, grant and career panels, and the annual student retreat and symposium.
At Brown
The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies oversees admissions, recruitment, tracking, support, and professional development for students and postdocs in the Division of Biology and Medicine. The Office also facilitates fellowship and training grant applications in order to increase funding for graduate students and postdocs.
The Sheridan Center offers a broad range of programs, services, activities, and resources for the Brown community. The Center provides assistance in syllabus development and conducts seminars and workshops leading to three Certificate levels. Many graduate students partake in the training offered here as part of their professional development.
Brown's Writing Center provides individual and group writing support free of charge to any member of the Brown community.
